The First State Animal Center and SPCA is ever evolving to meet the needs of our community. Today as we evaluate the needs of the animals and people of our community we will once again change our mission.
Our mission is to:
prevent the cruelty and suffering to animals
protect and enhance the quality of life for domestic and farm animals
promote compassion for all through outreach, education and low-cost services.
protecting people by placing only stable, safe and well-adjusted animals into homes where they can thrive
protecting animals by placing adoptable animals into permanent loving homes where they can be free from cruelty, neglect or inhumane treatment
reduce overpopulation through spay and neuter programs
educate the public about responsible guardianship
supporting Delaware’s, no kill status, where no adoptable animal is euthanized for lack of a home
